Grounds of “200,000 comfort women”.

Sentences “Historians say that the number of comfort women was 200,000 people” often appear in reports of the comfort women issue.
However, the name of the “Historians” doesn’t appear. It is natural. Historians in the comfort women issue of doing such an insistence don’t exist.
The historian in the comfort woman issue of doing the insistence that “looks like it” exists. It is Professor YOSHIMI,Yoshiaki at Chuo University “famous” for the comfort women issue.
He testified almost so by the oral argument in “Asia Pacific War South Korean victim amends claim lawsuit” opened in 713 Tokyo District Court courts on December 15, 1997.

“The (Japanse) army said, comfort woman of one person per 100 soldier.
Overseas strength was 3.5 million or less. Comfort women are 30,000 people when assuming that the soldier is three million.  When it adds the alternation to it, they are 60,000 people . The middle of 30,000 and 60,000:45,000.
However, this is a figure that the army top management allotted.  It increases more when there are numbers that a local army originally collected. It is assumed roughly 80,000-200,000 people.  It is not so wrong number.”

He says “one comfort woman to 100 soldiers”.  However, He shows the no grounds.
He says,”when there are numbers that a local army originally collected”. In his theory, local army originally gathered 35,000-155,000 comfort women. However, grounds that prove such a fact do not exist. This is only his mere imagination.
He calculated the figure of 45,000 from a story not well-grounded. And, he added the figure to it by the imagination and put out the figure of “80,000-200,000”.
The people who say “The number of comfort women is 200,000” like congressman Mike Honda only adopts the maximum value of this “YOSHIMI theory” not well-grounded either.
Historians in the comfort women issue say “Women made comfort women are 200,000 people” do not exist.
Journalists who had written the sentences “Historians say that the number of comfort women was 200,000 people” might not know the fact and wrote the articles based on only hearsay. They cannot write the names of the “Historians” because they wrote based on hearsay.

However, “The New York Times” Tokyo correspondent Mr. Norimitsu Onishi was an exception. He covered directly from the Professor YOSHIMI in Japan and wrote the articles. He intentionally wrote such articles.
Why does he do such a thing?
One authentic story. As for his reporting attitude, it is always critically to Japan friendly to South Corea and North Corea from former.
One uncertain story. As follows, people who investigated his feature say.
“He is a Canadian nationality now, and is introducing himself the Japanese Canadian. However, he is a (North) Corean who was born in a Corean village in Chiba Prefecture Ichikawa City in Japan.”

The people not interested in the fact.

 I want you to see the map below.
The sea area between the Japanese Islands and Korean peninsula is called “Sea of Japan”.


South Korea and North Korea suddenly started the insistence that the sea area  should  be callded “East Sea” in 1992.
They insist as follow.
“This sea area has been called for 2000 years “East Sea”. An international position of Japan went up in the 20th century, therefore the name of Sea of Japan appeared. And, the name was established in the age when Japan colonialized Korea. Because “East Sea” is an original, correct name, it is necessary to return it to it. ”
This is a lie.
The survey conducted by the Japanese Government on the maps possessed by the United States Library of Congress, following the previous surveys in the British Library, the University of Cambridge, and the Bibliotheque de France, again made it clear that the name of “Sea of Japan” became established by Europeans and Americans between the end of 18th century and the early 19th century.
It is an event in the age that Japan had still closed. (It had been called by various names such as “Sea of Japan”, “Joseon sea”, “East Sea”, and “Oriental sea” before it fixed the name of Sea of Japan. )

You might say like this. “Tell the Korean the fact. And, this problem is solved. ”
It is correct.  
However, it is not actually if it is so.
The Koreans know the fact. They disregard it, and are reiterating the insistence in contradiction to it.
The “fact” seems to be unrelated for them.
Therefore, it cannot solve this problem for ten years or more.
In all problems to which they are related, this is the troubles of the solution.

Insistence of Professor Yoshimi on the comfort women issue.

Remarks and sentences of Professor YOSHIMI, Yoshiaki of Chuo University (Tokyo, Japan) are often quoted by the report concerning the comfort women issue.
However, the core of his insistence seems not to be understood well.
He says so in his book published in 1995.

“There cannot be women who chooses the road that become comfort woman if the way of a free career choice like the worker, the profession, and the independent enterprise, etc. is opened in front of the females ・・・Even when they seem to choose that course of action by the free will, it is actually a result of some compulsion like colonialization, poverty, and unemployment, etc.”

He says that the Japanese Government is responsible for the “compulsion”.
This theory of him is called “Compulsion of the wide sense”.
If it follows his theory, it is “a result of some compulsion like poverty and unemployment, etc.” that the prostitute exists in the United States now; it is Uncle Sam’s responsibility.
(Professor YOSHIMI has not said such a story.  He is conscious of deviating of his theory from common sense.  And, his ‘target’ is only Japanese Government. )
It might be only communists and anarchists that agree to such a theory.
Why does the Professor YOSHIMI insist the theory that such a people doesn’t accept easily?

In 1991, Asahi Shimbun (Leftist paper that cooperates with “People’s Daily” of Chinese Communist Party) took up the testimony of Mr. YOSHIDA, Seiji “I took young women by force in Korea, and made them comfort women ” without verifying whether it was a fact, and it became a big problem.
“Comfort women compulsion taking by the Japanese army” was a splendid material to attack Japanese Government for the scholars and the activists of the left.
Afterwards, several former comfort women who insisted, “I was taken by force by the Japanese army “ was “discovered” by them.
However, it turned out that the YOSHIDA testimony was false by 1992 and the former comfort women repeated testimonies contradicted before and after. As a result, it was clarified that the Japanese army did not taken women by force as anyone can see.
At that time, it is the above-mentioned “Compulsion of the wide sense” theory that the Professor YOSHIMI worked it out to save scholars and activists of the left who want to continue government criticism, and former comfort women who present oneself.

When Professor YOSHIMI talks about the comfort women issue, He speaks the “Participation” of the Japanese Government and the Japanese army in the comfort women system. And, he speaks “Comfort women were compelled”. Of course, this means “Compulsion of the wide sense”. Moreover, he says so.   “That is responsible in the Japanese Government and the Japanese army.” People who do not know the comfort women issue well misunderstand, “The Japanese Government and the Japanese army made young women by force comfort women”.

The KONO statement is a result of the political trade-off with the South Korea government. It is an apology for “Compulsion of the wide sense” and some serviceman’s outrages in a morality meaning.

The story “The Japanese goverment and the Japanese army made young women by force comfort women” is called “Compulsion of the narrow sense” besides “Compulsion of the wide sense”.
At the Diet answer and the press conference, Prime Minister ABE denied this “Compulsion of the narrow sense”. (Japanese Government doesn’t admit “Compulsion of the narrow sense” at time when the KONO statement was announced.)
Media of the United States that did not know the comfort women issue at all misunderstood the Prime Minister ABE’s remark, “He denied the comfort women existed” or “He denied the content of the KONO statement” and they did wrong reports.

“TANEGASHIMAN” the lead and the excellent example of “Loukalu Hiirou (Local hero)” of Japan.

What meaning is in English “local hero”?
Does it mean persons who contributed to each region and famous persons etc. of the regional coming from?
The word said, “Loukalu hiirou (Local hero)” in Japanese has a peculiar meaning. It means “Superhero of the regional limitation”.
You might not understand the meaning.
I want you to imagine the appearance in which the SUPER MAN doesn’t go out of the native town in Illinois state, and he demonstrates ESP by the name “ILLINOIS MAN” only in the settlement of the traffic accident, help of the labour for farming, and help of cow’s birth.
The resident and the municipality, etc. create it for the advertisement and the activation of the region.  It often appears in the event etc. of local with the name and clothes that reflect the culture and customs in the region.
The oldest one appeared in the 70’s.  After in the 2000’s, it became a nationwide boom. The form and the activity situation are various.  The number reaches many hundreds of in the Japanese whole country.
The firebrand of this “Loukalu Hiirou” boom is the “Litou-Sentai TANEGASHIMAN” ( Island Soldier TANEGASHIMAN) that started up activity for ’99 years.


There is an island named ‘Tanegashima’ in Kagoshima Prefecture in the Japanese mainland south end.
It is “TANEGASHIMAN” that fans of Japanese superheroes that lives in the island created it as superhero on our islands.
“Litou-Sentai TANEGASHIMAN” is presented as a stage drama in various events held in Tanegashima island. It is a basic story that TANEGASHIMAN of three persons that symbolizes three regions in Tanegashima island (with the heroine “Fuyou” who helps them) fights against the evil “Jaasurou empire” that brews the “Tanegashima island conquest”. (It is sure to change with TANEGASIM’E’N if it applies to an English grammar . However, because this accidence change is a rule that doesn’t exist in Japanese languge, it is often disregarded in Japanese. ) 
What should be paid attention is to present the spectators various problems of Tanegashima through the story that the crime avenger attacks the twicer. The Jaasurou empire takes advantage the problem of the decline of the traditional island words or population outflow etc. It is drawn by the appearances of TANEGASHIMAN who fights with them while mixing laughter. It stimulates spectator’s love of one’s home province and it appeals for those understanding and solution to the problem.
TANEGASHIMAN receives the wide support from the children to the adults, and is seriously popular among natives of the island.
The “Loukalu hiirou” boom rolled in the Japanese whole country starting with the success of TANEGASHIMAN and it happened. It still has a big influence as excellent example of “Loukalu Hiirou” .
The group “Tanegashima Action Club” has managed TANEGASHIMAN. The member of the group does all work like the clothes making, production, and the sound effects, etc.
They are carrying out posture “Our hobbies” to the last.   They don’t do pay presentations at all, not receive help such as municipalities, and cost be their individual payments.
The contribution to Tanegashima island and Japanese whole land of TANEGASHIMAN and Tanegashima Action Club is very large.
If  “local hero” means that I said first, They are true “Local hero” of Tanegashima island.
